International Healthcare Expert Joins The Ranks Of Stanford Who's Who
Sophia Schlette has been accepted among the prestigious ranks of Stanford Who's Who as a result of her outstanding effort in the Healthcare Industry.
SAN FRANCISCO, CA, December 25, 2010 /Stanford Who's Who/ -- Sophia Schlette has been accepted among the prestigious ranks of Stanford Who's Who as a result of her outstanding effort in the Healthcare Industry. As a Senior International Adviser for the Kaiser Permanente Institute for Health Policy, Sophia has routinely exhibited the passion, vision and dedication necessary to be considered among the best.
Established in 1999, the Kaiser Permanente Institute for Health Policy's mission is to shape policy and practice with evidence and experience from the nation's largest private integrated health care delivery and financing organization. The Institute draws on experts from a variety of backgrounds, including physicians and other health care providers, clinical and health services researchers, public health professionals, economists, policy analysts, and communications experts.
The Kaiser Permanente Institute for Health Policy proactively identifies and analyzes significant national health policy issues and produces customized policy reports for a variety of audiences. They also study policy approaches in countries facing challenges similar to those in the United States as well as connect health care experts, advisers, policymakers and providers through national and international networks, publications and conferences. In addition, the Institute collaborates with other organizations to shape and influence policy.
Sophia serves as a focal point for questions on all things international. She also helps developing an international taxonomy of health care governance tools for those interested in policy and regulatory options during reform implementation. Prior to joining Kaiser Permanente, Sophia served as a Senior Expert in Health Policy at the Bertelsmann Stiftung, a German non-profit foundation and think-tank. There she was responsible for the formation of the Health Policy Network which brings together experts from 20 industrialized countries who regularly report on health policy developments.
Sophia's public health career began in 1989 in Africa working with UNICEF and the WHO as a political scientist. During her educational career, she earned a MPH in Health Policy and Management from Harvard in 1993, after which she consulted in several Latin American countries on behalf of the German cooperation and also for international organizations before shifting focus to domestic and industrialized countries' health care issues in the mid-90s.
Sophia is a member of the Harvard Alumni Association. She has served as a Guest Speaker at numerous conferences and seminars including Academy Health Meetings and International Health Economics Association Annual Conventions. She is also the Chief Editor of the Health Policy Development Series.
