During her educational career, Martha earned a Bachelor's degree in Political Science from the University of Maryland in 1961, a Bachelor's degree from San Jose State in 1963 and a Juris Doctor degree from Lincoln Law School of San Jose in 1983. She taught Social Studies and English at Willow Glen High School prior to practicing law.
Martha is a member of the American Bar Association, Santa Clara County Bar Association and California Teachers Association. She was the recipient of the Moot Court Oral Argument Award in1982 and the Corpus Juris Secundum Award in Legal Scholarship from West Publishing in 1983.
