As Founder of the African Business Travel Association, as well as throughout her phenomenal professional career, Monique has routinely exhibited the passion and perseverance necessary to be successful in the business world.
The African Business Travel Association is the only business travel association with a focus on the African continent and aims to become the largest and most far reaching education-based business travel association in Africa. Monique believes that by embracing the wonderful and vibrant diversity of the African Continent, approaching all projects and initiatives with an attitude of abundance and open-mindedness and always staying focused on the most important aspect of business travel - its people - ABTA will become a leading travel association on a global scale.
Monique began her career in the Travel Industry as part of the team that launched the Association of Corporate Travel Executives into the South African marketplace in June 1999. Due to the successful launch and rapid growth of ACTE in the region, she was charged with opening an ACTE office and managing the Association's operations in South Africa.
Over the following 11 years, Monique was instrumental in the strategic expansion of the Association across the region and was responsible for all aspects of its daily operations including Event Management, Business Development and Sponsorship, Membership Management, Marketing, Finance and General Administration. In 2006, Monique led the Association's expansion into Nigeria and thereafter into the Middle East, developing a network of contacts and hosting several Travel Management Events across the MEA region. In 2010, she left the ACTE to establish the African Business Travel Association.
