Joyce Jewett-Floyd had been active in the banking world for more than 30 years
Edgewater, MD, May 20, 2011 /Women in Business PR News/ -- Joyce Jewett-Floyd, Vice President of Operations and Finance at SOSB, Inc., has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in banking services.
Joyce had been active in the banking world for over 30 years; she is a graduate of University of Augsburg in Augsburg, Germany where she lived and work for l0 years. She holds a Bachelor's degree in International Business and Economics and a MBA. She began her career at the Volksbanc of Germany as a monetary exchange officer and obtained her broker's license in the field of international investments. She returned to the United States in 1981, moving to Washington D.C. (where she was born and raised), and began working for Dominion Federal Saving and Loan in McLean, Va. as a commercial lender and then moved to the residential side of lending as a Secondary Market Supervisor. Joyce then moved to San Antonio, Texas in order to take a teaching position. While in Texas she met her husband, who was attending school at Fort Sam Houston, where he completed his education in Anesthesiology. Joyce married her husband who has since retired from the Army as a LT. Colonel and they reside on Kent Island, Maryland. Since returning to Maryland in 1994, Joyce picked up her career in mortgage lending with a local bank, where she became Vice President of Operations and Secondary Marketing. Her responsibilities included the supervision of loan originations, loan closings, shipping, and the sale of the loans on the secondary market. She was also responsible for the production, closing and the sale of loans to secondary market investors in excess of $300 million per month.
In 2007 she made a decision to leave the banking arena based on unethical lending standards associated with mortgage loans. In January of 2011 she joined the staff of SOSB, Inc. to assist in a new start-up corporation. Joyce is the Vice President of Operations and Finance, where her responsibilities including ensuring that cost effective operations and infrastructure are in place to support staff. She also ensures that SOSB is well positioned in a rapidly evolving and competitive environment of biometric cyber-security technology. Her role and responsibilities include leadership and change management, acting as a representative and ambassador to Federal and State government agencies (to include direct communications with members of the House of Representatives and the Senate). She supervises the accounting and human resources division and she is responsible for supporting the CEO, President, divisional Vice Presidents and all other senior directors in aspects of funding, operational planning guidance and by ensuing that required infrastructures and support services are in place. She ensures that all sales proposals and contracts are within the legal bounds of each country and state, that all tax requirements are met, and the security of ethical implication for SOSB, Inc. She is also the Corporative Secretary and sitting Secretary to the Board of Directors as appointed by the CEO and Board of Directors.
Joyce has found that her success in both banking and the private sector is due to her continue educational development, her willingness to adapt to an ever-changing environment in computer technology, biometric cyber security and the development of new systems and solutions. She has found that every day is a new learning experience and you have two choices; you can either take an active part or you can sit on the sidelines while everyone else moves forward.
